PG13.COM
                      GIF File Restriction Utility

PG13.COM is a small memory resident utility (5.8k) that will prevent
downloading and viewing of GIF files.  It is primarily indended to prevent
children using the family computer from obtaining or viewing pornographic,
x-rated or questionable graphics files without their parents knowledge.
It also has value in business and educational environments where users have
access to a modem, CD-ROM, or other means of distribution of these types of
files.

Tens of thousands of these images exist on BBS systems, Internet servers,
even on CompuServe and America On Line.  They can be easily downloaded and
viewed by anyone with access to a computer and modem.  They are also readily
available on disk and CD-ROM from a variety of sources.

PG13 is absolutely invisible to the user when installed.  It will work with
all communication programs, all file viewing programs, and works equally well
under DOS or Windows.  The only thing the user will notice is that they get
an error when they try to load, download, or view a GIF file.  PG13 is
otherwise totally harmless to your system, and can cause no damage or cause
your system to behave erratically.



Included in the file PG13.ZIP:

README.TXT  - This file.

PG13TD.COM  - This is the unregistered version of PG13. This version displays
              an informational message and beeps when it is loaded.
              This is to encourage you to register the program if you find it
              valuable.  It uses a little more memory than the registered
              version, but is functionally equalivilant.

BUYPG13.EXE - This program will allow you to register PG13 immediately when
              ordering by phone and using a credit card.  Run the program and
              read the informational screen for more details.



        PG13TD.COM  USAGE (and the registered version, PG13.COM)

Syntax:  PG13TD.COM <option>

Options:

PG13TD /?    - Displays help.

PG13TD /OFF  - Disables PG13TD temporarily.

PG13TD /ON   - Re-enables PG13 that was previously disabled with the /OFF
               option.

PG13TD /U    - Unloads PG13 from memory.


                              INSTALLATION

It is recommended that you copy PG13TD.COM (or the registered version PG13.COM)
to your DOS directory.  All you need to do to load PG13 automatically each time
you computer is turned on is include the following line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file.

   C:\DOS\PG13TD.COM

If you are using DOS 5.0 or higher, you can also install PG13 from your
CONFIG.SYS file by adding the following line:

   INSTALL=C:\DOS\PG13TD.COM

The above examples assume that you have copied PG13TD.COM to your your DOS
directory and it is called C:\DOS.

For the registered version, use the same syntax as above substituting
PG13.COM for PG13TD.COM.



                           MISC. INFORMATION

PG13 can be loaded high with the appropriate memory manager utility, however
you will not be able to use the /OFF or /ON options when it is loaded high.

You can rename PG13.COM to some cryptic file name if you like to make its
presence less obvious.  For example you could rename PG13.COM to CD001SYS.COM
if you wanted to, and what it is used for would be a total mystery to an
unsuspecting user.
